Meeting in an inaugural session on Wednesday 7 May 2025 by webinar under the theme: ‘Contributing to making the voice of the Global South better heard in the Concert of Nations’, the Honourable Members of the African Journalists Caucus for the South Global Destiny Community (AJC-SGDC) examined the Statutes and internal Rules of the organization, elected the Executive Board and discussed the first actions to be carried out in the next three months. At the beginning of the session, the Honourable Members of the African Journalists Caucus for the South Global Destiny Community (AJC-SGDC) praised the work of the Preparatory Committee composed of Héribert-Label Elisée ADJOVI (Benin) and Salahadine Mahamat SABOUR (Chad), without whom it would not have been possible to bring together Journalist-Friends from the five regions of Africa. After examination, the Statutes and Rules of Procedure of the Caucus of African Journalists Caucus for the South Global Destiny Community (AJC-SGDC) were adopted, subject to corrections to be incorporated before the official installation of the Executive Board elected at the end of this process. The official installation of the Executive Board of the Caucus is scheduled to take place within the next three months, in a country to be designated at a subsequent meeting of the Honourable Members of the Board.
It was also decided to appoint Caucus Country Representatives in the fifty-four African States. Finally, the inaugural session instructed the President and the General Secretaries on the actions to be taken until the official ceremony for the installation of the Executive Board of the African Journalists Caucus for the South Global Destiny Community (AJC-SGDC).
