China’s Top Political Advisor Calls for Strengthening the Patriotic United Front at National Day Reception
China’s top political advisor, Wang Huning, on Sunday called for consolidating and expanding the patriotic united front to rally the strength needed to advance national rejuvenation in all areas through Chinese-style modernization.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks at a reception held in Beijing to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Highlighting the major achievements made under CPC leadership over the past 76 years, Wang stated that since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, China has entered an irreversible historical process toward national rejuvenation and has emerged as a flourishing and prosperous global power.
The fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, scheduled for October, will review proposals for the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development, Wang announced. He added that the 2026–2030 period will be a critical stage for China to consolidate its foundations and make every effort to fundamentally realize socialist modernization.
Regarding Hong Kong and Macao, Wang reaffirmed the commitment to fully, faithfully, and resolutely implement the “one country, two systems” principle to ensure that both regions are governed by patriots. He also pledged support for their economic growth, improvement of living standards, and integration into the country’s overall development.
On Taiwan, Wang reiterated adherence to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, calling for enhanced cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation in various fields, while firmly opposing separatist activities advocating “Taiwan independence” and foreign interference.
Efforts will also be made to encourage overseas Chinese, citizens, and their families to play a greater role in promoting Chinese modernization, advancing national reunification, and building a shared future for humanity.
Approximately 760 representatives from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities attended the reception.
