China is ready to join the international community in fully implementing the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), building a more just and reasonable global governance system, and creating a better future for humanity, said Foreign Minister Wang Yi on October 27.
Mr. Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made these remarks at the Lanting Forum on Improving Global Governance to Build a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing.
Noting that the GGI is an important new global public good and a contribution from China, Mr. Wang stated that, alongside the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, the GGI offers much-needed stability and certainty in an unstable world, and has already received clear and rapid support from over 140 countries and international organizations.
China is ready to work with all parties to realize the GGI, Mr. Wang emphasized. “We will remain committed to fair consultation, listening to diverse perspectives, and adopting useful suggestions with an open mind to reach the broadest possible consensus.” “We will promote reform in global governance through steady and sustained efforts to ensure it benefits the entire world,” he added.
All parties should work together to advance common development and improve the effectiveness of global governance, Mr. Wang said, adding that China calls for an end to the politicization of economic and trade issues, the fragmentation of the global market, and reckless decisions to engage in trade and tariff wars.
Mr. Wang also called for placing development at the center of the international agenda, mobilizing global resources for development, and fostering a global partnership for equitable and balanced development.
China will further open its doors, Mr. Wang affirmed, adding that the country will share development opportunities with more nations and more people.
