China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday the publication of a new compendium of Xi Jinping’s diplomatic thought.
The book, based on the 2021 edition, presents the contributions and latest developments of Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the field of diplomacy in the new era. It explains the historical context, profound connotations, theoretical features, and rich practices of Xi Jinping’s diplomatic thought.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that Chinese diplomacy, guided by Xi Jinping’s diplomatic thought, will create a more favorable external environment for building a great modern socialist country and for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization, while making greater contributions to peace and progress for humanity.
Since the dawn of the new era, thanks to a deep understanding of general trends in China and the world, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has developed a series of major innovations in theory and practice in China’s foreign affairs. This has led to historic progress and transformations in this field, forming and enriching Xi Jinping’s diplomatic thought, Mao noted.
“Under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, we, members of the diplomatic service, hold high the banner of building a community with a shared future for mankind, advocate for a multipolar world that is equal and orderly and for universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, implement the four major global initiatives, work to build a fairer and more equitable global governance system through reforms, expand the global network of partnerships, and advance high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative,” she said.
Those working in the diplomatic field firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests, and actively uphold their constant commitment to serving the people through diplomacy, she added.
As major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics advances on all fronts, China enjoys greater international influence, enhanced capacity to launch new initiatives, and stronger moral appeal, the spokesperson noted.
