China’s new Ambassador to Mali, Li Xiang, expressed his determination to give fresh momentum to the Sino‑Malian partnership, already elevated to a strategic level, during a meeting with Malian Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maïga on Monday, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s communication office.
Li praised the excellence of the 65‑year‑old relations between China and Mali, emphasizing mutual respect, reciprocal support, and shared benefits as key strengths of this cooperation. He added that, as the new ambassador, he intends to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries and strengthen cooperation in several areas, including energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and health.
For his part, Maïga thanked China for its “constant support,” reaffirming Mali’s commitment to friendship and bilateral cooperation. He assured that his country will “do everything possible” to guarantee the security of all people living in Mali.
It should be noted that Li presented his credentials to Malian President Assimi Goïta on January 6.
