Official Visit to China by Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala‑Musavyi

At the invitation of Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister, Selma Ashipala‑Musavyi will start her official visit to China on Saturday, April 11, 2026, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced on Friday.

On the agenda of this visit, which ends on Saturday, April 18, are the strengthening of the strategic partnership, economic cooperation, and the implementation of the outcomes of the FOCAC summit. Several specific aspects of the Sino‑Namibian strategic partnership, as well as African and international issues of concern, will be discussed, namely:

1. Strengthening the Partnership: Consolidating “friendly and fraternal” bilateral relations between Namibia and China; 2. Economic and Trade Cooperation: Discussions on trade exchanges, investments, and the implementation of cooperation projects (including practical cooperation and development); 3. FOCAC: Following up on the implementation of cooperation initiatives within the Forum on China‑Africa Cooperation (FOCAC); 4. International Issues: Exchange of views on topics of common interest (sovereignty, development).

This visit is intended to deepen mutual political trust and promote a win‑win partnership.
