On April 16, 2026, an official ceremony marked the handover of 600 oxygen concentrators, mobilized and acquired in China.
The event was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Benin, Zhang Wei, Benin’s Minister of Health, Benjamin Hounkpatin, UNICEF Resident Representative in Benin, Ousmane Niang, and WHO Resident Representative in Benin, Kouamé Jean Konan.
Ambassador Zhang Wei emphasized that this donation embodies China’s commitment to building a “community of health for all” and strongly reflects the sincere ties between the two peoples.
Benin’s Minister of Health described the donation as a symbol of the excellence of multilateral partnership. He noted that this strategic support will sustainably strengthen the country’s healthcare capacity and open a new chapter in China‑Benin cooperation.
