Africa Can Always Count on China as a Reliable Partner

China has been a reliable partner on which Africa has always been able to count throughout history, and Chinese diplomacy firmly stands alongside developing countries and its African partners, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made these remarks during his meeting in Beijing with Selma Ashipala‑Musavyi, Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade.

The expansion and deepening of Sino‑Namibian cooperation serve the interests of both peoples, align with the development trend of China‑Africa relations, and reflect the Global South’s efforts to strengthen solidarity, Wang stated.

He expressed China’s willingness to work with Namibia to implement the important agreements reached between the two heads of state and to continuously enrich the substance of the comprehensive strategic partnership of Sino‑Namibian cooperation.

China values Namibia’s adherence to the One‑China principle and firmly supports Namibia in its independent pursuit of a development path suited to its national conditions, Wang said. He added that China is ready to work with Namibia to fully leverage the benefits of China’s tariff‑free policy and to advance cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, people’s livelihoods, and youth development.

China is prepared to collaborate with Africa in a spirit of mutual trust and support, to jointly pursue modernization, strengthen the Global South, and work toward a fairer and more equitable global governance system, Wang emphasized.

Ashipala‑Musavyi praised China’s long‑standing and invaluable support to Namibia and other African countries, adding that regardless of changes in the international landscape, Namibia firmly adheres to the One‑China principle and remains committed to promoting friendly cooperation with China.

Namibia also highly values China as a vital source of stability in a turbulent world, supports the four major global initiatives proposed by China, and is willing to strengthen multilateral coordination with China to jointly uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, the minister said.
