In Manila, the capital of the Philippines, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty on July 23, 2026.
During their meeting, Wang Yi stated that China is ready to work with Egypt to maintain high‑level exchanges, deepen cooperation in the economic, trade, military, artificial intelligence, and other fields, strengthen coordination on multilateral affairs, and jointly build a Sino‑Egyptian community of shared future in the new era.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues, including the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf. Wang reaffirmed China’s principle and position, noting that the memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran was hard‑won and deserves to be respected by all parties.
China supports Egypt in its role as mediator to facilitate peace talks. The Palestinian issue lies at the heart of the Middle East problem and should not be ignored or marginalized. The top priority is to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and China has already provided donations for the area.
