On August 4, the 28th Chinese Medical Mission in Benin launched a mobile consultation campaign in the villages of Kpinnou and Agamé, in the Mono Department. Ambassador Zhang Wei, Prefect of Mono Bienvenu Dêdêgnon Milohin, Colonel‑Major Idjouola Tétédé from the Ministry of National Defense, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health and the Mono Departmental Hospital Center attended the launch ceremony.
Ambassador Zhang emphasized that this campaign is a flagship initiative of the “China‑Africa Year of People‑to‑People and Cultural Exchanges” and forms part of concrete measures to implement the FOCAC “Health Partnership,” thereby fostering closer ties between the two peoples.
Beninese representatives expressed their high appreciation for the remarkable results of bilateral health cooperation and conveyed their sincere thanks to the Chinese government and the medical mission for their selfless assistance, stressing that this outreach will significantly improve access to healthcare for the people of Benin.
The two‑day consultations marked the first intervention of the Chinese Medical Mission in Beninese villages. Specialists from eight medical disciplines — including orthopedics, ophthalmology, and traditional Chinese medicine — were deployed on site to provide free consultations, screenings, preventive advice, and donations of medicines, benefiting 765 local residents.
